Chicago has long been known as a beacon for showcasing up-and-coming music artists and bands. From legendary blues artists to alternative rock bands, pop singers, and hip hop artists, one thing you can say about Chicago is that its music scene is as diverse as they come. What’s also unique about Chicago is that you can walk into a bar, club, or venue on any day of the week and find yourself being serenaded with a bevy of different musical genres. One such day is coming up! On Wednesday, August 7th at Bassline Chicago, five bands will stake their claims as the future of Chicago music. Safe to say, this is the can’t-miss show of the summer.
Opening things up will be Ian Jake Robleza, a musical wunderkind who has just put together his first band after primarily performing as a solo act. According to Ian, “Fans can expect some of the latest music I've released with full band arrangements, alongside songs in the works of being recorded soon. Also, some merch, and a few surprises! Being a band/artist that has not played with the other bands before becomes a powerful opportunity to share music with everyone else's fans in the room, as well as a genuine display of musicianship. Surrounding yourself with other artists is a great way to improve not just your artistic platform, but to improve our respective musicianship as well.”
Another act looking to make an impact is Kimbelle. The band has been playing numerous gigs around the city and is currently making plans to record their debut album. Expect lots of new tunes. Top Deck is part of a wave of bands that cite shoegazing as one of their many inspirations and have the tunes to back it up. Deadbeat Daycare continues to gain new listeners by the boatload with infectious pop hooks and a stage show that leaves fans and newbies alike gasping for their last breath. Headlining the show is DZ Riley. The band has a new album out in September/October and is ready to become one of your new favorite bands. By the way, the poster above was designed by Audio major Kannon Steinmeyer. Additionally, he is the singer/guitarist in Lemons.
The boys from Deadbeat Daycare have the final word on what concertgoers can expect: “A killer performance! It's always fun to play with new bands to not only meet new people, but also see different corners of the music scene. Bassline is a great venue, and we’re looking forward to playing there again with new bands.”
